Steeven Sandoval is one of the most acclaimed mariachi vocalists of all time. A solo artist with an incredible voice, he is famous for engaging audiences through his powerful performances that exude cultural pride. No less than magical on stage, his elegance and authenticity transcend around the globe. “Mind-blowing” is really the only way to describe it!
Growing up in Guadalajara, Steeven realized from an early age that performing was his destiny. In 1999, after many years of perfecting his art, he was asked to join the internationally-renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán (el mejor mariachi del mundo). For 14 years he was featured as the primera voz of that group, where he gained fame for his heart-wrenching performances of songs such as “Por Amor.” Steeven’s unique lyrical interpretation has earned him a loyal fan base and afforded him the ability to embark on a solo career of his own.
Steeven has recorded dozens of albums with Mariachi Vargas and Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, and he recently released his own CD, 100 Litros de Tequila. The album features mariachi classics like “Voy de Gallo,” “A Los Cuatro Vientos” and his signature song, “Por Amor.” He has performed throughout Europe and North and South America with the Houston Grand Opera in two mariachi operas: Cruzar la Cara de la Luna and El Pasado Nunca se Termina.
In SERENATA PARA LAS MADRES, Steeven will perform with Mariachi Azteca de América, a group that was awarded first place at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Mariachi Competition on two different occasions, performing in front of a live audience of over 70,000. Joining this exceptional San Antonio-based group on stage will be Kyle, Texas native Jizelle Rodríguez, who last December was selected as “Vocal Soloist of the Year” during the 23rd Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza.
