The Butler School of Music of the University of Texas at Austin has created a full-time mariachi teaching position, and is currently accepting applicants. This is primarily an applied position focused on directing ensembles, but with additional academic teaching responsibilities such as the development of courses in Southwestern border music, Mexican music in general, ethnomusicology, etc.
