Thank you to all of the very talented students who auditioned for the 25^th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza National Vocal Competition! Each year you all help to break the previous year’s record for the number of auditions submitted, and this year that record was broken again! With each school submitting their best vocalists, this year’s audition process was exceptionally tough. The quality of student talent never ceases to amaze the judges.

This year’s competition will include 42 very talented contestants who represent the outstanding musicality and showmanship that exists in today’s youth mariachi programs. The Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza would like to not only congratulate the 42 finalists selected, but also every single student who auditioned for this competition. It takes a lot of courage and confidence to put yourself out there as a performer, and we applaud everyone’s efforts. Felicidades to all of the musical programs, mariachi directors, vocal coaches and families who support and encourage these students in their musical careers. Without this infrastructure, the current competition would not be possible. Below you will find important dates and information pertaining to this year’s 25^th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Workshop and Competition.

Wristbands to attend all Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza National competitions may be purchased online in advance up until November 30 at mariachimusic.com for the price of $16. Wristbands may also be purchased at the door on the day of competition for $25. These wristbands allow you entry into the following three competitions: National Group Competition, National Vocal Competition and National High School Finals.

Thanks again to all who submitted their audition videos! Year after year, the vocal competition continues to be one of the highlights of the entire Extravaganza festival, and we look forward to having a spectacular show again this year. Remember, your biggest competition is always yourself. Students who have been around the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza for longer than one year should know that the judges are always looking to see how you improve from one year to the next. Continue to move towards greatness and strive to be a better vocalist than you were the year before!

First-, Second- and Third-Place winners will be selected in the categories of Elementary, Middle School, High School and College/University, with one student being selected as the overall Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza National Grand Champion Vocalist.

A Facebook Live drawing will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 5:30 PM to determine the order of competition in each category.
