Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and José Alfredo Jiménez Medel will come together for the first time ever to present “ASÍ FUE MI PADRE,” a show where the Mariachi Vargas will reunite with the musical legacy of José Alfredo Jiménez, “EL REY”. This performance will offer audiences a sneak peak into the personal and intimate life of the guanajuatense compositor who is regarded by many as the most important composers of mexican music with classics such as: Si nos dejan, La Media Vuelta, Camino de Guanajuato, El Jinete, El Rey and numerous others.
Audiences will be able to enjoy the interpretations and vocal stylings of the members of the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, as well as those of the performers of ASI FUE MI PADRE, Luis Alfredo Jiménez and Myrna Lozano, who will be accompanied by the musical talent of the world’s best mariachi.
This show aims to showcase our mexican music, family values, and the pride that comes with our mexican heritage. It will include audio, video, and photographic material that will thread together the life history of the Maestro José Alfredo Jiménez all from the point of view and personal experiences of several renown artists that got the chance to get to know him such as: Armando Manzanero, Vicente Fernández, Marco Antonio Muñíz, César Costa among others. Audiences can also look forward to the special participation of one of Mexico’s best lead actress, Itati Cantoral. On the production side there is great talent as well with Maestro Rubén Fuentes, the General Director of the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and close friend and collaborator of José Alfredo Jiménez with whom he worked all of the musical arrangements for his works. Jose Cantoral is also a notable collaborator with the production of musical arrangements that will be showcased in this performance.
This show will be broadcasted live On-line for the first time via www.eticket.mx from the Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral. As far as the sound, lighting, and video is concerned state of the art technology will be used, such as a digital detection system to protect the intellectual property of the artists involved and have their music travel around the world.
