Tune in to NBC’s 30 Rock Comedy TV show with Tina Fey for a glimpse of Alvaro Paulino, Jr. during this upcoming season. Alvaro, and a few members of the New York City based Mariachi Tapatio, were invited to appear in an episode in the new season of 30 Rock.
Alvaro and Mariachi Tapatio have made several television appearances that include the WWE Monday Night Raw, ABC’s Cupid, MGM’s film Zookeeper, David Letterman and MTV with Wyclef’s cumbia/rap/mariachi mix. This is his second appearance in a 30 Rock episode. The first one was 2 years ago. They shot this second episode in December as soon as he returned to NYC after teaching workshops in San Antonio during the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. The scene was shot in the subway at Grand Central Station with Tina Fey and the 30 Rock production crew. Alvaro plays a guitarron in the scene and has a one-liner where he says “la anciana esta loca” (the old lady is crazy).
Tina Fey and the 30 Rock crew are incorporating a little mariachi and Spanish into their episodes perhaps as a way to appeal to young Latinos. We hope this will result in more opportunities for Alvaro and his group. Who knows….he could become a regular!!!!
Following the filming of the 30 Rock episode, Alvaro and his team filmed a segment for MTVTres for the reality show “Quiero mis Quince” where they played Las Mananitas for a quincienera. The episode aired recently on MTVTres nationally.
Felicidades Alvaro and Mariachi Tapatio. Necesito tu autógrafo.
