Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan is set to perform with the San Angelo Symphony as part of their Pops Concert Series on Saturday, April 24. The concert marks Mariachi Vargas’ first visit to San Angelo thanks to the esteemed Maestro Hector Guzman, musical director of the San Angelo Symphony, the Irving Symphony, the Plano Symphony and the Jalisco Philharmonic.
Maestro Hector Guzman is the conductor for the Mariachi Encuentro Internacional in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and has worked with Mariachi Vargas and Maestro Ruben Fuentes for several years.
The San Angelo Pops Concert Series presents the only opportunity to see Mariachi Vargas perform live with a symphony in Texas this year. Mariachi Vargas will perform favorites to include El Pastor, Veracruz, Violin Huapango and Huapangos de Ruben Fuentes with the San Angelo Symphony followed by a full set on their own. The Pops Concert is made possible thanks to the generous support of Wells Fargo Bank, State Farm Insurance and AB Distributing.
The concert starts at 8 p.m. at the Junell Center Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas. Doors open at 6 p.m. For tickets call the San Angelo Symphony at 325-658-5877 or log on to sanangelosymphony.org.
