Grammy Award Winning and Los Angeles-based Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano will return to Texas this fall to celebrate Mexico’s Bicentenario by premiering their 2010 VIVA MEXICO production in Boerne, Texas with two concerts on Monday and Tuesday, November 1 and 2, 2010 at 7:30pm at the new Boerne Champion High School Auditorium.
Mariachi Los Camperos and their musical director, Jesus “Chuy” Guzman, are always very well received in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Throughout the years, Chuy Guzman has come to San Antonio to give workshops to high school and college mariachi students. It is always a memorable experience for students to be able to attend those one-on-one workshops with Chuy Guzman. San Antonio mariachis are also very proud to have one of our own performing with Mariachi Los Camperos. Raul Cuellar “Jr.” has been a member of Mariachi Los Camperos for almost four years and is a native who grew up in the west side of San Antonio and graduated from Lanier High School. Raul performed for many years with San Antonio mariachi groups, including Mariachi Los Caporales, Mariachi Azteca, and Mariachi Campanas de America, and was a mariachi instructor at Irving, Rhodes, and Taffola Middle Schools as well as Lanier High School, before moving to Los Angeles in 2002.
