Check out Campanas de America at the Scottish Rite Temple on Friday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. The group will entertain audiences with performances that include comedian and actress Liz Torres and musician Tito Puente, Jr. Campanas de America performs mariachi with a different twist by using traditional mariachi instruments such as the violin, vihuela, guitar and guitarron along with non-traditional mariachi instruments such as the keyboard, bongos and accordian. Campanas is known for singing English hits—mariachi style which helps open doors to folks new to the mariachi music scene.
The Scottish Rite Temple is located at 308 Ave. E. in San Antonio, Texas. Concert tickets are available by calling 210-224-0258. A portion of proceeds generated benefit student scholarships.
On Saturday morning catch Highlands High School ‘s Mariachi Tecolote, the Wesley Community Center’s Los Mariachitos de Wesley and other groups at the Mariachi Dualthon starting at 8:00 a.m. at Roosevelt High School. Mariachi groups will perform along the running/biking trail. Participants will select their favorite mariachi group for a first place prize of $500!
And see the fabulous Mariachi Mexico de Noche at Estella’s Mexican Restaurant on Sunday morning from 9:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. at 2200 West Martin Street. Your out of town guests will love it!
