The Annual Festival of International Books and Arts (FESTIBA), hosted by the University of Texas Pan American, is scheduled for March 28-April 2 on their campus in Edinburg, TX. As part of FESTIBA, UTPA’s Mariachi Aztlan puts together mariachi workshops and competitions for South Texas mariachi students. The festival culminates with a concert by Mariachi Cobre on Saturday, April 2 and is sure to be a real treat for mariachi students. This 12-piece group of outstanding musicians was originally formed in Tucson, Arizona in the 1970’s. They are now based in Orlando, Florida were they perform daily at the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot Theme Park in Disney World.
