Jose “Pepe” Martinez Sr. sat down with Mariachimusic.com to talk about the new upcoming Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán cds and Mariachi Vargas’ upcoming concerts in Paris. First, the newest cd, Sinfonico No. 3, with the Philharmonic Orchestra from the state of Queretaro, is lively and romantic. This cd includes the songs:

Mariachi Vargas is also working on recording another new cd which they hope to release at the Mariachi Encuentro Internacional in Guadalajara in September. In addition, Don Pepe has some exciting news to share.  Mariachi Vargas will be recording a live cd with the Houston Grand Opera in Paris, France during a performance of the first mariachi opera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna. Mariachi Vargas and the Houston Grand Opera have six performances of the Cruzar la Cara de la Luna on their agenda September 23-27, 2011 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Don Pepe is very happy that he was chosen to write the music and part of the lyrics for this opera that talks about Mexico, Michoacan in particular, and of the beautiful butterflies there that cross the face of the moon. There will be a few new songs added including songs from France, the U.S., and primarily Mexico. He hopes to see everyone there and thanks everyone for always supporting Mariachi Vargas.

Following their performances in Paris, Mariachi Vargas will head to San Antonio for the 17th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza November 27- December 4. For more information visit mariachimusic.com.
