Mariachi music is on the loose this weekend and traveling to South Texas for performances by Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Veteran’s Middle School Mariachi Juvenil de America, UT-B Mariachi Ocelotetlan, UTPA Mariachi Aztlan and Paola Alanis.
Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan will be in Hidalgo, TX on Saturday, March 2, for a performance and recognition at the 2013’s Borderfest celebrating the “culture treasures of Mexico.” Borderfest is a four-day extravaganza that preserves the traditions of various cultures by promoting exciting concerts and performances, cultural events and an illuminating parade! This is definitely a wonderful festival and concert that you do not want to miss!
Another concert featuring “El Mejor Mariachi del Mundo,” Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, will be in Brownsville, TX on March 3 at the beautiful Arts Center at the University of Texas at Brownsville. This year marks the second consecutive year that Mariachi Vargas will be welcomed at UT Brownsville and will have the great ability to put on a fantastic performance! The audience will also have the huge pleasure to witness performances by Veterans Middle School- Mariachi Juvenil de America, who won first place in the middle school category of the 18th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza’s group competition, UT Brownsville’s Mariachi Ocelotetlan, UTPA’s Mariachi Aztlan and Paola Alanis, who won first place in the college/university category of the Extravaganza’s vocal competition!
