New to the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza — Texas’ largest mariachi music festival — is “A Taste of the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza,” a one-night-only concert on Wednesday, November 29, at Pearl Brewery’s JazzTX night club. This unique event brings together a diverse group of talented artists, including Houston-based vocalist Vanessa Alonso, Austin-based pianist Esteban Álvarez, New York City-based vocalist/actress Christina Maxwell, along with members of San Antonio’s very own Mariachi Azteca de América.

Admired by audiences around the globe, award-winning ranchera singer Vanessa Alonzo is one of over 1000 musicians and vocalists who will convene Nov. 26-Dec. 2 in San Antonio for the 23rd Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. Joining Vanessa on stage at JazzTX are virtuosic Costa Rican pianist Esteban Álvarez, and Broadway actress and singer Christina Maxwell. These two are living proof that mariachi music knows no borders and appeals to a wide cross-section of multitalented artists. See what happens when piano meets mariachi! Expect to hear traditional favorites like Bésame Mucho, Y Volveré and La Bikina, along with San Antonio’s very own, award-winning Mariachi Azteca de América.

Two shows are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29 at JazzTX at the Pearl. Showtimes are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are available at JazzTX.com.

Performers include Robert Casillas (guitarrón and accordion), Jesús “Chuy” Guerra (trumpet), Gino Rivera (violin and guitar), Carlos “Chuck” Torres (violin) and Güicho Cabral (vihuela).
