Join us as we unveil the semifinalists who will perform live at the Lila Cockrell Theatre in San Antonio. Tune in to the Mariachi Extravaganza Facebook Page at 6:00 PM CST on Tuesday, October 29 for an exciting drawing that will not only announce the semifinalists but also determine the order of competition!
Once again, the Mariachi Extravaganza has shattered records with an incredible number of entries for the National Vocal Competition. Talented competitors from 49 cities across 10 states are vying for a chance to compete in front of a live audience during the semifinals and the finals for a chance at winning the title of Grand Champion Vocalist at the 30th Annual Mariachi Extravaganza!
Selected semifinalists will take the stage in categories ranging from elementary/middle school, high school and college/university on Thursday, December 5 showcasing their extraordinary talent in front of a panel of judges and a live audience. Top performers will advance to THE FINALS on Saturday, December 7. Finalists will then perform in front of a different panel of judges who will reveal the final standings and the overall Grand Champion Vocalist!
But that’s not all! Category winners will receive scholarships for their outstanding performances, and the selected Grand Champion will kick off the Mariachi Extravaganza Grand Finale Concert opening for the world renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán in front of an audience of 2,300 concert goers at the Lila Cockrell Theatre!

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Mariachi Extravaganza, a milestone that celebrates three decades of elevating mariachi music to new artistic heights. The festival has inspired the growth of mariachi programs at the local, regional, and national levels while serving as a launchpad for the careers of young artists. Competition winners are awarded the prestigious honor of performing in the grand finale concert, headlined by Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, with additional scholarships, grants, prizes and travel opportunities. To date, $250,000 has been awarded to winners since the inception of the Mariachi Extravaganza in 1995.
The 30th Annual Mariachi Extravaganza is presented by H-E-B and KHS America Academic Alliance along with supporting sponsors Raising Cane’s, Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert and the San Antonio Film Commission. The event is produced by San Antonio based MPR (Muñoz Public Relations).
