San Antonio’s MPR Expands Mariachi Extravaganza to Las Vegas

San Antonio, TX – MPR, producers of the renowned Mariachi Extravaganza, proudly announces the expansion of this celebrated event to Las Vegas, Nevada, in partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

The inaugural Mariachi Extravaganza – Las Vegas will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall, an 1,800-seat venue located on the UNLV campus. This exciting event will feature mariachi group and vocal competitions, providing an unparalleled platform for young musicians to showcase their talent.

By bringing the Mariachi Extravaganza to Las Vegas, the event aims to create opportunities for students from across the Western U.S., including California, Utah, Arizona, and Nevada, to compete, earn recognition, and win prizes. The competition will also remain open to participants nationwide.

So are both the Las Vegas event and San Antonio event separate from each other? And the same schools could compete twice?

Thank you for your inquiry, Nathan. Yes, the Mariachi Extravaganza in Las Vegas is entirely separate from the Mariachi Extravaganza in San Antonio. Both events are independently organized but share the same mission of promoting mariachi music and providing opportunities for students to showcase their talents.

The expansion into Las Vegas is a direct response to the tremendous growth of mariachi music programs in the region, with over 6,000 students currently enrolled in mariachi programs in the Las Vegas area. This new event gives students in the Western United States a chance to participate in high-level mariachi group and vocal competitions, similar to those hosted in San Antonio, but closer to their region.

Importantly, the competition is open to all students, regardless of geographic location. This inclusivity fosters learning and exchange among students from different parts of the country, enriching the overall experience.

The Las Vegas Mariachi Extravaganza will be a one-day event held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. While the events are separate, students are welcome to compete in both if they choose, offering them multiple opportunities to grow, perform, and connect with other talented musicians.
