Vocal Finalists Announced for the Mariachi Extravaganza Las Vegas – West Coast Region!

Congratulations to the 40 students from 20 cities in 7 U.S. states and Canada who made it to the finals at the inaugural Mariachi Extravaganza – West Coast Region.

The competition that originated in San Antonio attracts the most talented mariachi singers in the nation who compete for a chance to win scholarships, performance opportunities, and the title of Grand Champion Vocalist. There is never a lack of talent in the auditions, which makes the selection process of finalists very difficult. Students are graded by their intonation, diction, style, vibrato, phrasing, and interpretation and the best in each category are selected to perform live for the competition.

Congratulations to all the finalists selected for the inaugural Mariachi Extravaganza Las Vegas – West Coast Region. If your name is not on this list, remember our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

If you are a selected finalists, you will be contacted soon by a member of our production team to finalize any performance details regarding the competition on Saturday, March 8.

AWARDS
First, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given to winners who will receive medals and scholarships/grants. Additionally, first place winners in each category will be granted a spot as a semifinalist in the 31st Annual Mariachi Extravaganza in San Antonio for a shot at the Grand Champion title. First place winners will also be invited to perform at the Mariachi Extravaganza Las Vegas concert on Saturday, March 8.

LOCATION
UNLV Performing Arts Center Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall is located 5 minutes from Las Vegas strip. All events will be held on campus starting with group and vocal competitions from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The Mariachi Extravaganza Concert will follow at 7:30 PM.

HELPFUL TIPS
Plan to spend the entire day at UNLV. A food court with a Starbuck’s and 8 restaurants is located inside the University and only a 5 minute walk from the Performing Arts Center and Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. There are also several restaurants within a mile from Ham Hall that would be great spots for dinner. La Mojarra Loca Grill on Maryland Street is a great sit down Mexican Restaurant that often has live mariachi music. The Original Lindo Michoacan is also located near the University on Desert Inn and are known for serving a warm fideo soup with every entre. It’s a popular restaurant locals. TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets for the Mariachi Extravaganza Concert featuring Jonathan Palomar and competition winners can be purchased online or at the UNLV Performing Arts Center box office. Your registration includes 1 ticket to the concert and can be redeemed during the competition check in between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Click here to purchase tickets!

WHERE TO STAY
The closest Hotel to the UNLV Performing Arts Center is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Las Vegas. This hotel is a 5 min drive from the venue and offers complimentary breakfast. Please make your reservations soon as availability is expected to run out.

GROUP REGISTRATION
Group competitions will be held for middle schools and high schools. There is still time and space for a couple more groups to register. If you are interested, act now! Click here to register.
