Students will experience a week full of activities in which will they learn from some of the best vocalists in the genre. They will engage in group sessions to help develop ear training, harmonization, and group rehearsing skills. Private one on one sessions will also be available to target specific skills and techniques. Instructors are also prepared to target topics such as interpretation, performance, diction and other important skills required for mariachi vocalists.

Camp Instructors
The camp is led by professional artists who possess unique skills needed for mariachi performance. The 2024 Mariachi Extravaganza Camp maestros include the Tucson, Arizona based baritone Octavio Moreno and sopranos Vanessa Alonzo, from Houston. Both Alonzo and Moreno have made a name for themselves not only in the mariachi world but in opera as well. Joining them for the first time this year is vocalist and guitarist Jonathan Palomar. Jonathan is a former member of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and has performed with Mariachi Sol de Mexico and Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano. Miss Alexa Posas, former Grand Champion Vocalist of the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, will also serve as a workshop instructor.

Camp Recital
The Mariachi Extravaganza Summer Camp will host a recital on Friday, June 28 in which students will showcase the skills they learned during the week.

Cost: $35 general admission $55 VIP seating. Tickets available at tobincenter.org or at the box office during the day of show.
