THE MARIACHI EXTRAVAGANZA GEARS UP FOR AN EXCITING 2024!

In our quest to continue producing, presenting and promoting quality Latino Cultural Arts programming in San Antonio and beyond, we’d like to share with you plans for this year. Dance, music and Summer Camps are in the works for 2024.

The year starts with a Dallas premiere of Ballet Nepantla’s “Nacimiento” at the Latino Cultural Arts Center on Saturday, February 3rd. Do check out this FREE event if you’re in the Dallas area this weekend. Ballet Nepantla performances are a must see. Once you experience this dance company in person, it will be easy to understand how their dance, choreography and creativity resonates cultural pride and appreciation similar to the Mariachi Extravaganza and other shows that present the very best of our Latino culture.  Click here to reserve your seat today and do it quickly as the show is almost full! More shows are scheduled with Ballet Nepantla in Houston, the Valley, San Antonio, Colorado and more cities throughout the year. Visit the Ballet Nepantla website for updates.

The “Serenata para Las Madres” will return at The Cave Without a Name in Boerne on Saturday, May 11. The Cave Without A Name hosts concerts on a regular basis as the acoustics are none other than spectacular. Many acts perform with no amplification and the sound is incredible. Expect to walk down 129 steps into a real cave with a stage and a theater set for a couple of hundred people. Trio Los Reyes will perform along with the 28th Annual Mariachi Extravaganza’s Grand Champion Vocal Winner Nayelli Peña. Nayelli and Trio Los Reyes performed in Amarillo with the Amarillo Symphony last year in October and will reunite once again for the “Serenata para las Madres.” It will be an extra special experience for everyone so plan to attend. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased here at the The Cave Without A Name’s Website

The Mariachi Extravaganza Summer Camp returns in June to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater where students will have the opportunity to study under the direction of esteemed maestros. The Summer Camp will focus on vocals to help students hone their skills in mariachi voice. Registration for the camp will open in March and will be limited to 50 participants. Stay connected with us on mariachimusic.com for important early registration dates to take advantage of the best registration rates. Register for the monthly newsletter so you don’t miss on the opportunity to participate and mark your calendar for June 24–28 for this year’s camp.

And this is the big year for the Mariachi Extravaganza as we celebrate 30 years of presenting the largest mariachi music festival in the world for competitive mariachi at a National level.  It’s hard to believe how 3 decades have gone by and we’re all still working hard to influence the continuous growth of mariachi music. The 30th Annual Mariachi Extravaganza is set for December 5-7, 2024 in San Antonio. Preparation for this event takes place year-round and updates and announcements will be shared as planning continues. For now, sit back, relax and enjoy some breathtaking performances from years gone by.

Kassandra Juarez from UTRGV performed in San Antonio in 2016 as winner of the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza National Vocal Competition.
