There are some excellent mariachi groups participating in this year’s Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza including a performance from McAllen based Mariachi Los Arrieros on Saturday, December 3. The group is one of the strongest professional mariachi groups across the country today and will open for Mariachi Vargas in concert at the Lila Cockrell Theater. Mariachi Los Arrieros has some excellent vocals, stirring melodies and masterful execution of classical, traditional and contemporary mariachi music arrangements that have captivated audiences throughout the U.S. The Valley based group recently launched their 1st CD titled Amor a la Musica. The CD is quite impressive and has already made it to the ballot of The Recording Academy (also known as the Grammy’s) and is in line for a Grammy nomination!
