Join the San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) on Monday, December 2 at 2:00pm at the John Igo Branch Library, located at 13330 Kyle Seale Parkway, to officially kick off the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza.
The Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza is in its 19th consecutive year as the largest and longest running mariachi music festival in Texas. The week-long festival is filled with impressive entertainment, spectacular music and several FREE public performances that are educational, entertaining and enriching.
Nearly 20 events are planned for the week and are expected to attract 10,000 people. The music festival hosts the largest and most competitive mariachi group and vocal competitions in the nation, and culminates with a concert featuring competition winners and the world’s preeminent Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan.
Mariachi Vargas features culturally enriching, family-oriented entertainment that resonates cultural pride and appreciation, and builds bridges of understanding among different cultures and countries.
