A favorite event held during the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza is the Mariachi-themed Art Exhibit and Reception that features art work by talented local and regional artists. Art work on exhibit includes mariachi-related paintings, sculptures, photographs and more. “Violin Player” and “Mariachis on My Mind” are two paintings that are part of the exhibit. The paintings are by Kathy Sosa, a San Antonio based artist, entrepreneur, interior designer and former public relations executive and business owner.

The building sits on what was once the Old Spanish Trail. Through various programs such as the Mariachi Art Exhibit, the Centro Cultural Aztlan develops, maintains and promotes the consciousness of art and culture of San Antonio. The art exhibit and reception takes place Tuesday, November 30 at 6 pm. at 1800 Fredericksburg Rd.
