The 4th Annual Corpus Christi Mariachi Music Fest is right around the corner. Coastal Bend area mariachi students are gearing up for the Del Mar College Mariachi group and vocal competitions taking place prior to the concert with the internationally renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán on Saturday, May 21. The competitions will be held at Del Mar College Wolfe Recital Hall and are free and open to the public. The Corpus Christi Mariachi Music Fest is made possible thanks to the support of presenting sponsors Sames Crow Ford Lincoln and State Farm Insurance.
The competitions attract students from throughout the Coastal Bend area like Kingsville native Juan Miguel Flores from King High School. Juan Miguel placed 2nd in the 16th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza High School Category last December with his outstanding performance of “Alguien Vendra” as seen on the attached video posted on the mariachimusicdotcom YouTube channel. Juan Miguel is scheduled to sing live on the “Domingo Live Show” on Sunday, May 8 along with a State Farm Representative who will talk more about the upcoming Mariachi Vargas concert and the 4th Annual Corpus Christi Mariachi Music Fest. The Domingo Live Show is the most popular Latin music show in South Texas and airs on the ABC affiliate KIII TV-3 at 10am Central Time.
