Interested in participating in an international, Spanish television vocal competition and reality show? AZTECA America will host casting calls in 3 Texas cities for the popular TV show “La Academia.” Casting calls will take place in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio this summer. Esteban Velasquez from Midland/Odessa made it to the top 10 finalists on “La Academia” in 2009 after winning “Best Mariachi Vocalist” in the U.S at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in 2007. He spent several months in Mexico City where the reality show was filmed. Esteban went on to compete in “Quiero Ser Estrella” on Telefutura following his appearance on “La Academia.” Esteban will open for Mariachi Vargas Friday, May 20 at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa!
