MORE THAN 1,000 MARIACHI MUSICIANS WILL CONVENE IN SAN ANTONIO TO HELP CELEBRATE THIS YEAR’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY
The 25th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza is the largest mariachi music festival in Texas and one of the most renowned world-wide. For 25 consecutive years, it has hosted dozens of events during the week-long festival. Among the most prominant are the the National Mariachi Group and Vocal competitions and a concert featuring competition winners and the world-renowned, Mexico City based Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán.
More than 1,000 mariachi musicians will convene in San Antonio for this annual event. “We’re hard at work at making this year’s event a special celebration of our 25th Anniversary,” says Cynthia Muñoz, President of MPR and producer of the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. “Plans include celebrity guest appearances, unique opportunities for competition participants and sponsor-driven prizes.
The Presenting Sponsor, for the third consecutive year, is San Antonio based Gonzaba Medical Group. The company is one of the largest and most successful local Hispanic-owned businesses.
