Roma HS's Mariachi Nuevo Santander represents Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza at the Biden/Harris inauguration

Congratulations to Roma High School’s Mariachi Nuevo Santander for being invited to perform in an hour-long special for the Biden/Harris Latino Inaugural 2021 Celebration. The event will celebrate Latino contributions to our nation and will be hosted and produced by Eva Longoria, with San Antonio’s Henry R. Muñoz III as co-producer.

Mariachi Nuevo Santander received the invitation from Muñoz, via the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, on Wednesday, and Eloy Garza (the group’s director) was honored to accept.

The virtual performance will spotlight Mariachi Nuevo Santander’s 16 member, award-winning group, who will perform This Land is Your Land. The video will follow appearances from top Latino A-listers such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, John Leguizamo, Rita Moreno, Edward James Olmos, Ivy Queen and Becky G. Musical performances will feature:

The performance will stream on Tuesday, January 19 at 8:30 pm CT on Peacock’s The Choice channel, NBC Latino and on the Telemundo app, Telemundo.com, the Noticias Telemundo Facebook and YouTube pages. The event will also be streamed live on all of Univision News’ digital platforms, including UnivisionNoticias.com, @UniNoticias and @UniPolitica on Twitter, Univision Noticias and Univision Política on Facebook, the Univision Noticias Youtube Channel and the Univision app. It will also be available on the program’s official website, https://latinoinaugural.org/, and on the official inauguration website https://bideninaugural.org/watch/. Also representing the mariachi community at the inaugural celebrations will be Mariachi La Joya from Las Vegas High School in Nevada. Mariachi La Joya performed for former vice-president Joe Biden during his campaign trail in Las Vegas last year. Mariachi director Stephen Blanco was thrilled when the inauguration planning committee reached out to him to invite Mariachi La Joya to perform in the Virtual Parade Across America that will be televised on Wednesday, January 20.
