Paid mariachi positions offered by Tobin Center’s GenerationNEXT

GenerationNEXT of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts has many paid opportunities for local, professional performing artists to work within our communities.  These opportunities all offer competitive pay and flexible, part-time schedules.  We are currently looking for artists interested in any of the following programs:

CSI (Contracted Service Instructors):  Contracted Service Instructors (CSIs) are experts in their fields who function as performing arts teachers in grades 6-12 at schools in the San Antonio Independent School District.  A CSI is assigned a class in an area of their expertise.  For the duration of the school year, the CSI will prepare lessons, teach content, and communicate with campus administration and parents.  This role comes with a structured schedule and direct interaction with a class of students.  The CSI reports to the SAISD Fine Arts Department, assigned campus administration, and GenerationNEXT of the Tobin Center.
Genres include: band (including concert, marching, color guard, drill), orchestra, mariachi, dance (including folklorico, hip hop, fitness dance, ballet, jazz, tap), choir, show choir

CSP (Contracted Service Providers):  A Contracted Service Provider (CSP), also an expert in their chosen field, works on an as needed basis for the teachers of SAISD.  CSPs may be called to work short term with small groups of students on specific tasks.  These professionals may be asked to provide instruction to teachers, present clinics to teachers and students, provide coaching to students in the audition and competition processes, or take on more structured tasks such as providing private lessons for the duration of the semester.  The CSP reports to the SAISD Fine Arts Department, the contracting director, and GenerationNEXT of the Tobin Center.
Genres include: band (including concert, marching, color guard, drill), orchestra, mariachi, dance (including folklorico, hip hop, fitness dance, ballet, jazz, tap), choir, show choir

SAWT (San Antonio Wolf Trap):  Professional performing artists looking to become  SAWT Teaching Artists must successfully complete five days of paid training before being eligible to contract with the program.  A trained SAWT Teaching Artist partners with an early childhood (Pre-K, K, or 1st grade) teacher, providing sixteen session professional development residency on arts integration.  The Teaching Artist models teaching arts integrated lessons, coaches the classroom teacher to create his/her own arts integrated lessons, observes, and debriefs the teacher along the way.  SAWT Teaching Artists may also provide parent workshops to the community or professional development workshops to teachers or other teaching artists.
Genres include: puppetry, music, dance, theatre, storytelling

Early Arts:  Our newest program aims to expose our youngest students to the performing arts by taking the experience to them.  An Early Artist produces a 7-10 minute program in their area of expertise to perform in Pre-Kindergarten classrooms around San Antonio giving children a chance to experience a variety of performing arts, learn proper theatre etiquette, and interact with performing artists.
Genres include:  music, dance, puppetry, theatre, storytelling.

Please share this information with other area artists!
