Cano Health and H-E-B are pleased to announce the addition of singer/songwriter Lupita Infante to the lineup of artists performing at the 27th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. Lupita will open for Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán in San Antonio, and will serve as a judge for the National Vocal Competition and Original Songwriting Competition.
Lupita has forged a successful career in the entertainment business with a beautiful voice, a solid academic background and enormous talent. As part of the third generation of the Infante musical dynasty, Lupita released her first album La Serenata in September of 2019 and received her first Latin Grammy nomination at the 21st Latin Grammy Awards, where she performed “Amorcito Corazón” alongside Mariachi Sol de México during a tribute to her grandfather.
La Serenata includes nine songs, two of which were previously released as singles – “Yo Por Ti” and “Ya Ni Me Acuerdo,” both were originally recorded by her father, Pedro Infante, Jr. (1950-2009); and seven brand-new recordings, four of which feature Lupita herself as a co-writer.
“La Serenata” was produced in San Antonio by Carlos H. Álvarez and recorded with some of the city’s most talented mariachi musicians that included:

Armonia: Roland San Miguel / Carlos H. Álvarez

In June 2017, Lupita received her Bachelor’s in Ethnomusicology from UCLA, where she participated in Mariachi de Uclatlán. Founded in 1961, it was the world’s first university-level mariachi ensemble. In addition, she has appeared on The Voice Mexico, where she competed on Carlos Vives’ team. She has opened for ranchera greats Shaila Dúrcal and Beatriz Adriana, and in 2018 she performed in the famed Mariachi USA festival at the Hollywood Bowl.
In addition to receiving a Latin Grammy nomination, Lupita has received her first nomination at the 63rd Grammy Awards and a second nominatino at the 22nd Latin Grammy’s.
Believing in a hopeful future no matter where you begin and appreciation for the journey that unfolds along the way, Lupita Infante celebrates life by pursuing her passion for music and honoring the legacy she inherited.
