Edinburg North High School’s Mariachi Oro will be featured in the documentary “Going Varsity in Mariachi” which is part of this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The film was directed by Sam Osborn and Alejandra Vasquez who spent months in the Rio Grande Valley filming Mariachi Oro and other mariachi groups in the area. Much of the film was shot during the 27th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in 2021.
