The 9th Mariachi Extravaganza Summer Camp is back and will take place Monday, June 26 – Friday, June 30 at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts – Carlos Alvarez Theater. The camp is open to all students from throughout the U.S. who are interested in developing their skills primarily in performance and voice. Participants will perform in a concert featuring soloists and group performances.
Students will experience a week full of activities in which will they learn from some of the best vocalists in the genre. They will engage in group sessions to help develop ear training, harmonization, and group rehearsing skills. Private one on one sessions will also be available to target specific skills and techniques. Instructors are also prepared to target topics such as interpretation, performance, diction and other important skills required for mariachi vocalists.
Camp Instructors

The camp is led by professional artists who possess unique skills needed for mariachi performance. Past Mariachi Extravaganza Camp maestros include the Tucson, Arizona based baritone Octavio Moreno and sopranos Vanessa Alonso, from Houston. Both Alonso and Moreno have made a name for themselves not only in the mariachi world but that of vocal performance as well.
Camp Recital
The Mariachi Extravaganza Summer Camp will host a recital on Friday, June 30 in which students will showcase all the skills they learned during the week. The recital will feature group and solo performances from camp participants. The recital will take place at the Carlos Alvarez Theatre of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets will be sold at the door.
Registration for the camp will open April 1. A maximum of 50 registrants will be accepted. Serious vocalists are encouraged to register!!!!
