Together we are proud to offer three professional seminars on mariachi voice techniques, with three incredible maestros, available for immediate enrollment, as well as a live Zoom session happening August 21st with renowned educator Dr. Dahlia Guerra on “How to Teach Mariachi,” free to educators who wish to learn more about how to create a program on the popular genre. The workshop will start at 1 pm EST.”

“Our collaboration with Lessonface will bring much needed mariachi educational instruction into schools throughout the U.S. helping to further the continuous growth of this popular cultural art form,” says Cynthia Muñoz, Producer of the Mariachi Extravaganza. “These materials will help aid current mariachi music educators in the classroom while introducing the genre to those new to mariachi music.”

The three professional seminars include:

Jonathan Palomar, former guitarist and vocalist of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán and Artistic Director of the Mariachi Extravaganza, discusses “Voice Interpretation and Performance” utilizing his vast experience as an artist and performer to share important tools for a better interpretation of mariachi music in its most authentic form. 

Vanessa Alonzo, a former Grand Champion Vocalist of the Mariachi Extravaganza who is one of the original cast members of the popular mariachi opera Cruzar La Cara de La Luna, presents “Mariachi Singing.” Vanessa has enjoyed a longstanding career with the Houston Grand Opera and has performed throughout the world.

Dr. Octavio Moreno, who holds a doctorate degree in music from the University of Arizona, and is also a cast member of Cruzar La Cara de La Luna presents “The Power of Knowledge,” which explores the basic science and anatomy of the vocal instrument. In this workshop, attendees will learn the fundamentals of vocal technique and the importance of understanding it and honoring its relevance as an instrument.
