The Mariachi Extravaganza is the most important mariachi event in the world for competitive mariachi. The music festival serves host to 3 National mariachi competitions that include the National Group Competition, the National Vocal Competition and an Original Songwriting Competition. All competitions are live and are held at the Lila Cockrell Theatre on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. The competitions are the largest, longest running and most competitive in the U.S. and have been captured in stories in the New York Times, Texas Public Radio and other media outlets.
Admission wristbands for spectators can be purchased on the day of the event at the Lila Cockrell Theatre box office or when you register as a participant of the Mariachi Extravaganza online.
