The Mariachi Extravaganza consists of an Original Songwriting Competition, the National Group Competition and the National Vocal Competition. These competitions feature hundreds of talented young mariachi musicians and vocalists and original songwriters in outstanding performances that inspire and impress audiences year after year.
Awards are given to competition winners as follows:
Participants in the National Vocal Competition compete in the following categories: Elementary/Middle School, High School and College/University. First, second and third place winners are selected from each category and one vocal competitor will be named the overall Grand Champion National Vocal winner.
Participants in the National Group Competition compete in the following categories: Elementary/Middle School, High School and College/University. First, second and third place winners are selected from the Elementary/Middle School and College/University categories and six groups are selected in the High School Category. The six finalists in high school will go head to head in the high school finals. First place winners in each category, and the grand champion vocal winner, will perform at the Mariachi Extravaganza.
First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in the Original Songwriting Competition.
