Tune in to Azteca America – KUVM TV– Channel 34 (Houston) at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25 for a 30 minute Mariachi Music Special recapping the Mariachi Vargas concert last weekend! Filmed live at the Wortham Center’s Brown Theater, the special includes performances from Houston’s favorite Mariachi MECA, the award winning Mariachi Hermosura, young, talented vocalists Esteban Velasquez (Odessa), Selena Elizondo (San Antonio) and Virginia Stille (Houston) as well as the internationally acclaimed Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan.
Sponsored by Fiesta Mart and Goya, Mariachi Vargas’ Houston concert included a week of mariachi music performances at Fiesta Mart locations with Goya product sampling, mariachi music master classes at MECA and an unforgettable evening with Mariachi Vargas at the Wortham Center. The week-long celebration of mariachi music came to a close with Daniel Martinez of Mariachi Vargas singing at a traditional mariachi mass at San Jose Catholic Church. Highlights celebrating the cultural tradition of mariachi music are included in the 30-minute special produced by TV Azteca and MPR.
