The 3rd Annual Mariachi 7 Leguas Concert is set for Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the McAllen Civic Center Auditorium in McAllen, TX at 7pm. The concert will also include a special guest folklorico group, Raices de Dos Tierras. Rio Grande Valley-based Mariachi 7 Leguas  was chosen as the top winner of “Sones de Mariachi por el Mundo,” a global competition, organized through the Instituto Mexicano del Exterio, that pays tribute to the excellence of mariachi music worldwide. Mariachi 7 Leguas competed against mariachi groups from 22 countries and won the title of “2010’s Best Mariachi” and the honor of performing in a two-week concert tour throughout Mexico. Founded by Emilio Santos, Jr. in 2004, this 12 piece ensemble consists of university students and young working professionals from all over the Rio Grande Valley.

Mariachi 7 Leguas was also invited to open for el mejor mariachi del mundo, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán at the 16th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza concert which took place on December 4, 2010 in San Antonio, TX. If you missed your chance to see these great musicians in San Antonio, now you have the opportunity to see this charismatic group perform on February 5th.
