In this Popurri Paso Dobles, Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán interprets a medley made up of instrumental compositions popular to bullfights in Spain. The popurri includes España cañi, Virgen de la Macarena, Dos Negro and Silverio which are all fabulous pieces that put a spotlight on Nuevo Teca’s amazing trumpets. This particular performance was in San Antonio at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in May 2022. Trumpet players are Jorge Aguayo (formerly with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán), Angel Martinez (manager of MNT) and Ignacio Ibanez. It’s an original medley is performed in the style of Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán under the musical of direction of Fernando Martínez. The combination of these particular songs is what is unique in this popurri. There are hundreds of mariachi recordings of Paso Dobles but there is not one that combines these songs that are among the most popular Paso Dobles in the world.
