The world famous Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán will have their first concert in Brownsville on Sunday, February 26 at the brand new University of Texas at Brownsville Performing Arts Center, the premiere venue for performing arts in the Rio Grande Valley which offers intimate seating and superb acoustics. The performance is supported in part by a grant from Charro Days Fiesta to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the celebration.
Opening the concert for Mariachi Vargas will be the 1st place winners of the Elementary/Middle School Category and the High School Category of San Antonio’s 17th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza mariachi group competitions which took place last month. The audience will have an opportunity to see phenomenal performances from Mariachi Juvenil de America from Veterans Middle School and Mariachi Cascabel from Rio Grande City High School both from Rio Grande City, TX. Each won 1st place in their respective categories for the second consecutive year.
