Mariachi Vargas will perform a two-hour online concert Sunday, November 1 to commemorate the group’s 123-year history. The show celebrates the best of nuestra cultura in a beautiful production from the majestic Hacienda El Centenario in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. This is the headquarters of the José Cuervo tequila company and is quite fabulous. The concert was produced by Maestro Rubén Fuentes and Carlos Martínez, with filmmaker Alejandro Pujol and Diego Cantú. Maestro Fuentes is a composer, musician and entrepreneur who has served at the helm of Mariachi Vargas for over 50 years. Carlos Martínez is the current Musical Director who has led the group for six years and is a vocalist and violinist with the ensemble. Diego Cantú is a producer and Alejandro Pujol is a TV film director from Mexico who has worked on several international broadcasts along with many of Mexico’s main cultural institutions.
Plan to watch this extraordinary musical journey from the comfort of your home and expect to hear favorite songs that are perfect for Día de los Muertos like ‘La Llorona’ and ‘La Bruja.’
